While cleaning up the basement, found the box for my 28-2 that I inherited from my LE father. (S/N S2808XX which matches the revolver) It has diamond target grips on it now but does not fit in the box so I assume he added these after he bought it

I need some help with some of the notations on the box. What do the following entries mean?

Fin - "BH" (I assume Parkerized?)
Stock - either "S" or "5" (I can't decipher)
Special features - "9233"

Thanks in advance for your help!

Bill, the standard finish on the model 28 was satin blue, just not high polished like the model 27 for instance. It wasn't parkerized.
The S is for service stocks. These are the smaller size grips and not the large target style which were an option.
Sorry I can't help you with the special features number. Bob

"BH" means it was the standard matte Blue finished used on the Highway Patrolman.

"S" means it came with Magna stocks, which were Standard on this model.

"9233" may be different from the other label markings and not a S&W code related to features. I don't know what it means, but I wonder if it relates to the cost.
