Model 28-2 stock question

Hi All,
Today I purchased a Model 28-2 serial# S2426xx at my LGS. Gun is in great condition & came with original box & papers, no tools.
The Gun has diamond magnas on it now, but they do not number to the gun. Would diamond magnums be factory on this year gun?
The confusion I'm having is the box is labeled magna stocks, however in the space on the label that says "special features" it appears to say Conoco stocks.
So it looks like to me that the gun was special ordered with target stocks & someone replaced them with diamond magnas, would you agree?
In any case I like the stocks on it & looking forward to shooting it!!

Hello,
I read the end label as saying "Goncalo", which I believe would indicate Goncalo Alves Target's, thereby confirming your belief, but I also read "smooth" in the stocks box which has been crossed out.

Looks like an aftermarket label. Almost looks to new and white for a 1963-64 era revolver. I'm guessing Diamond magnas for it.

I think Jim might be right. If you look closely, it appears there's another label, presumably the original and a bit age-yellowed, under the one we see.

Rarely, if ever, do we see the word "magna" (or whatever it says) written fully on labels like that. Typically it will be just a T, S or other single letter denoting the stocks type.

Wow, Good eye Jim & db! I never noticed the other label underneath. So diamond magnas was used in 63 & 64, Thanks for the info!

Yes sir..I wouldnt imagine a fancier grip due to the fact these were working guns..

I love the look of the Diamond Magnas and you have a beautiful package there...Other than the grip number not matching...You have a nice looking Model 28 there...
