Model 28-2

I am trying to find out if the finish on my model 28-2 Highway Patrol 357, 6' barrel, Ser. # N2259xx is original stainless or if it has been chromed. The handle frame is stamped with a K in a square.

It's my understanding that 25 Model 28-2s with 5-inch barrels were made in a nickel finish. They were stamped "F.H.P." (Florida Highway Patrol) and numbered from 32-56. This was in 1959, I think.

I'm thinking yours was simply refinished in nickel, and your serial number seems to indicate your revolver was made between 1975-1977.

I could be wrong. I often am.

It is definitely not stainless as 28's were not made in stainless. Either nickel or some other similar finish and not factory either.

Thank you for the replies. The finish is terrible the trigger tang is black as is the as is the inside of the yoke and the cylinder release.
