Model 28 dilemma

Ok, I can only afford one of these (trust me I have checked, double checked, and triple checked) I have the choice between a pinned and recessed 28 with a 4 inch barrel, in the box in 99% condition, or a 6 inch barrel, pinned and recessed, in the same condition, with the box as well. Both guns are from the same time period (boxes are the same). Both guns, the same price of $500 each. Is there a premium for either the 4 or 6 inch barreled version. Both seem to fit so well in my hand, and both have such wonderful balance.

well, in my neck of the woods, the 4" is a tad more valuble....guess it depends on where you are....

I would buy the 4 inch becasue I already have a 6 inch model 28. But that's just me.

David - are you going to shoot em or put em in the safe?
If your going to shoot it get the six incher.
If just an investment piece - go for the 4.

If it were me, I'd buy the 4 immediately, and put the 6 on lay-a-way.
Maybe you can get a discount for buying both.
Keep us posted and how about some pics when you get that first one home?

I would go for the 4" version - even if I were planning to shoot to regularly. I think this length on an N frame balances very well. Let us know - WITH PICTURES!

A revolver as big as a N frame deserves a 6 inch bbl.
If you are gonna shoot magnum loads you might as well avail yourself of the extra velocity and range a 6 inch bbl will provide.

David, the 4" model 28-2s (I assume this is what you are talking about) are just a bit more desirable than the
big,hulking,6" version.

Granted,the 6"ers shoot a bit easier,but the 4s' just carry easier and shoot as well as the bigger ones.

Buy the 4in. Highway Patrolman, and don't even question your decision.
You won't regret it.

I'd go with the 4 inch, because it is such a sexy piece!!! Also, I own one of each, and I love the 4" so much more!!!

I love to shoot the four inch 28-2 and it looks great, but doggone, the six incher is awfully accurate with everything I have ever shot through it!

I would suggest the 4" as well. If it were the 44 magnum, then I'd go with the 6 1/2". The 4" Highway Patrolman is the one I chose.

The 4" is probably the best value for the money. Either of them are worth the asking price if 99%.
