I have been looking for my first S&W revolver, and more specifically, the K - Frame and N - Frame 357s. I want a gun with adjustable sights, and prefer one in stainless or nickel. I saw a Model 28 in a LGS yesterday that certainly met all of my wants and needs. The gun was in very good shape, but not what I would call pristine. They have a $799 price tag on the gun which seemed a bit high to me.

I asking for some help from my forum buddies on this one. Am I on-base thinking that this price is too high, or am I mistaken? Also, does anyone know anything about the Model 28 that may want me to think twice about this gun?

I don't know about taroman but I wouldn't pay more than $400 for one in good shape (assuming a -2 and 4" barrel).

It's been refinished and is way overpriced.I would pass on it.The gun originally came in blue and a small handful were done in nickel.

Stainless and nickel are not the same. It is one or the other and in this case, it is nickel. You may want to decide if you prefer one over the other. Nickel is cosmetic, stainless is functional. $400 seems a bit low in today's market but $799 is way high. I was posting while the above appeared. If it is refinished $400 may be closer to right.
