model 29-2 serial number help

just bought a model 29-2 blued with a 6 1/2'' barrel

S/N 859XXX, build date? it has the pinned barrel and recessed cyilinder

If the SN has the letter N in front, probably 1981, possibly 1982 ship date. Hope this is helpful.

Have fun with it! I love my 29-3, 6" nickle. You've got to feed it mags, forget the specials.

yes sir got some 240 gr jhps today, here the 44 specials are more than the standard magnums by about 8$ so magnums for me, and i emailed buffalo bore to see what they recomend and whats safe for the gun, got some of their 305gr non +p ammo their 4A is what its called, cant wait to shoot it
