A local auction has the model 29 and it looks to have a 5" barrel. I am partial to 5 & 5 1/2 barrels. The info I find on the net is a few yrs old, but I think it will command a high price. Any opinions on the gun and price will be greatly appreciated.

You want to make sure and get both flavors....:D

A nice 5” 29-5 Classic I’d expect to command in the neighborhood of $1500

My thoughts too. This particular auction brings some high prices. From what I have read on the interweb the -5 is the pick of the litter of the model 29. Anyone here own one or have an opinion?

-5 or -6 both tops. The -6 will have the new/current extractor and rear sight assy.

The -5 would have shipped with the silver medallion Hogue grips. The -6 without the silver medallions.

5" barrels are the most desired in the 29/629 pre lock classic series revolvers.

The 5" full lug is seen as the ultimate combo of carry ease and recoil mitigation.

I did paperwork on a 8 3/8” 29-5 classic yesterday. It came with a 2-7 Burris scope, docs, rear sight in a bag, no box. 800 bucks out the door. Probably not the normal going rate but proof good deals are out there if you scour the online classifieds.

Thanks, that gives me hope.
