How rare is the Model 29 with the 8 3/8" barrel with the adjustable target champion front sight and what year was this model made?

I don't know how rare they are, but they are not seen very often these days. I don't think they were a super popular item and I think they were made with the steel silhouette target shooting market in mind, which is a fairly small market.

Are you referring to the four position adjustable front sight model? If so these were made in the 8 3/8" barrel and the 10 5/8" barrel as stated above marketed to the steel sihoulette shooeters as it was a popular sport at the time. I'm a little fuzzy on the dates, but I believe these guns were produced in the mid to late 1980's. So that would mean that the guns encountered should have Non P & R features.

The 4 position front sight was only cataloged on a Model 29 with a 10 5/8 inch and 6 inch barrel. Both started with a 29-3. Photos would be appreciated.

I'm fairly sure these were also offered on the Model 57 41 Mag.

Correct, they were also offered on an 8 3/8 inch Model 586. I was speaking of what barrel lengths of the Model 29. I have always heard these referred to a Silhouette front sights and not Target Champion. I was interested in a photo to make sure we are discussing the same front sight.
