Me too. I just picked up Charles Pate's book on the American Models and it is excellent.

There really is not a lot of reference books on the Americans.
They do not get the attention they deserve. IMO

David Chicoine's S&Ws of the Old West book is another good source on the early Americans.

I believe Roy Double's private monograph of about 50+ yrs ago was the earliest detailed publication on the American models, however you can't beat Charlie Pate's book " Smith & Wesson American Model " for all you ever need to know about them. Ed
