Been thinking about carrying my Model 30 lately. Since I had not broken it down and given it a good clean and lube, today turned into that kind of day. It was feeling a bit stiff although it functioned fine. Tight sideplate but when I got it off there was not a trace of lube to be found.

When I set everything in the box to take the post cleaning pic I asked myself, "Where the heck is the crane?" Then I went back into the garage and found it on the table. Laid it there while trying to get the extractor rod unscrewed from the star. After dinner I will break out the white lithium grease and put it back together.

Still debating whether to find my J-frame Tyler-T or pull out the simulated ivory grips from Altamont. Still have a box of .32 wadcutters from Buffalo Bore to load it with. Also going to need to put some of my favorite fluorescent yellow paint top of a layer or two of white on the front sight.

I've got a Model 30-1 that I carry sometimes and I put Pachmayr grips on it and it makes it more pleasant to shoot than the factory grips with a Tyler-T grip adapter. I don't like the looks of the Pachmayr's as well but it makes the 2" barrel easier to shoot.

Putting grips by Goodyear on a sweet little Model 30 is like having a thoroughbred pull a milk cart! Sorry, but I just love my I frames way too much to treat them so shamefully. YMMV.
