I picked this up over the weekend and haven't had a chance to give it a good cleaning.

I'll be posting in the WTB area for a needed hammer.

I like it. Nice find. There is nothing worse than having a jug of moonshine in one hand, seeing a raccoon run towards your still, grabbing your revolver and getting the hammer hooked on your suspenders.

Nice find, a very hard to find post war .32 Hand Ejector in nice shape.

It's not a Pre Model 30, however, those were introduced as the Model of 1953 and were designated the Model 30 in May of 1957.

You have a "Model .32 Hand Ejector", official name. More specifically identified by collectors as a Post War Transitional I frame because of so many pre war features. It likely shipped in early 1950.

Your hammer is the hardest to find; the early post war style for the flat mainspring. But notched for the sliding bar hammer block safety. Easier to modify a pre war hammer than finding one. The same hammer was used in the 32 Hand Ejector and Regulation police, and .38 Terrier and Regulation police.

But it needs a notch ground below the firing pin that looks like this:

The hammer may have simply broken when the gun was dropped. It doesn't look to be well finished, as if it'd been done intentionally.

Colt used to advertise that their hammers were hardened clear through and wouldn't break if the gun was dropped. And in the case of their small frames, of course, they noted that they held six shots, not five.

Thanks Hondo44 for what to be looking for and a current product that Numrich's has in stock.

I'll get it ordered today.

I'v got a buddy who can machine the proper notch in the replacement hammer once it arrives.

As far as being able to cock it in SA it's not an easy task...

As far a if it had been dropped in its past is a possibility.

Once work has been completed and I clean it up I'll post more photos.

Took the side plate off and it looks pretty clean.

Serial 544265 which I'll submit to Mr. Jinks for a ship date.
