I have a 5" JM PC627 V-Comp and a 4" 627 Pro. Both work fine with/without moonclips. The eight spindly spider-like moonclipped legs are more difficult - ie, slower - to load than the six shot .45 ACP ball ammo in my 625. That revolver forever spoiled me for 'fast reloads'. Still, I wanted more 'ready ammo' for my 4" 627 Pro - and bought more .022" blued clips - just like S&W, etc, offerings - from the source - Ranch Products. They were 50/$50 or 100/$75 delivered. More than the 6-shot .45 ACPs - which run 100/$35 delivered - but still a bargain compared to other sources.
It was my finding that Remington ammo loaded okay - even the R38S12 +P .38 Spcl 158gr LHPSWC, which I keep clipped for emergency use (All of my safe guns have moonclipped/Speedloader defensive ammo for emergencies!). The best - ie, easiest by hand - to load in my 627s' moonclips are rounds loaded in Starline brass. I ordered 1k of Starline (Directly from them - cheapest by far!) .357M brass and keep 56 moonclips loaded in four food containers with 125gr JHP .357M wimpy-plinkers - and a few more loaded with the 'old FBI load', as I previously mentioned. The moonclipped .38s load more easily - they are shorter and their wobble results in less movement as a result. Mixed .357M brass wobbles as much as Starline, some of it is just hard to mount in the moonclips, while the Starline is consistently easier to mount. It works for me. I can't imagine the 327's being different - it would just eem senseless to make them differently from the 627-series.
