A 34 is an Improved I Frame or J Frame, not a K. The only interchangeable part(s) with a K, L, N Frame sight is the screw that holds the sight base to the frame, and, possibly, the elevation and windage springs and plungers. If your gun has the T slot at the rear of the sight slot it is not a Model 34 but a K Frame. A 34 should have a round stud with a raised V shaped ridge on it staked in a hole in the top of the frame .

lk,
it does not have a t slot. it has a hole for the front screw, and a small screw in the back hole thats it
i guess i need to buy one.if you know hwere i could find a rear sight base i sure would appreciate it
thanks sir

Other than trying S&W, Jack First, Gunparts/Numrich, Brownells, David Chicoine (Old West Gunsmith) and watching E-Bay I really can't offer any suggestions.

I have to follow this as well because I need a rear sight for my I frame. I have had no luck finding & I or J frame rear yet. I looked at the S&W site but they refer you to a chart ? I have yet to find this chart.
