Model 34 with 3 inch barrel

I am more confused by the 3 inch barrel. I have seen 2, 3 1/2 (M43 Airweight and M51 Magnum) and 4 inch; no 3.
Possibly a 4-inch gun and someone doesn't know how to measure a revolver barrel…?
I don't see an adjustable rear sight.
Looks more like a 30 or 31 than a 34.

Wouldn't a rimfire have a frame mounted firing pin, rather than a hammer mounted? #34's had a Evel Kneviel launch ramp front sight too.
The one circled in blue is not a Model 34. There is no adjustable rear sight and it lacks the shark fin front sight.
It would help if you had the serial number. Also, is it a .22? Maybe a .32 HE. That would allow a 3 1/4" barrel.
I think it might be an I frame and the extractor rod appears to be barrel shaped, which would lead one to believe it is from before 1947. Unless the picture is misleading. The stocks are post-WWII.
Edit: I see Gil snuck in before me (no adjustable sight).

It looks more like a thin barrel Model 36.

Looks like a 3" 36 to me, or a smudgy 37 though the anodizing is usually black/black vs. the blue/black of blued carbon steel. I guess it could also be a .38 S&W as noted previously.
I'd definitely grab it, most of the 3" J frames I run across are from the 70s and this one looks to be older. I understand they were popular with female police officers at the time.

It doesn't look to be in very good shape. Not one I'd get, even with my low threshold for cosmetic condition. 3" standard-barrel Chiefs are not all that hard to find.

It has a five shot cylinder, fixed sights, center fire hammer, and a round but frame. Definitely not a model 34 but most likely a 3" model 36-1. We need to see photos of the right side with the caliber stamp on the barrel, the serial number, and the model number stamp on the frame to be positive.
All I needed to see is a pic of the gun to verify that is not a model 34. Now, if it was mis-marked it could be marked 34 but it is not a 34.

When the cylinder notches align with the cylinder flutes it's an indication that there is an odd number (5) of charges holes , the hammer nose pin indicates it's a centerfire.
It's a five shot J frame round butt so a Model 32 .38 S&W or a model 36 .38 Spl made between 1966 when the flat latch ended and mid 1968 when the diamond around the grip screw ended.

His pictures are a pain in the neck to look at, but one of them shows the model number in the yoke cut. It is a Model 36. I'm not going to bother looking again, but the serial number is in the 400,000 range if I recall correctly from yesterday.

Yes. The .32 models 30 and 31, and the .38 S&W models 32 and 33 were all available with 3" barrels.

Yep, can only be a Mod 36 for two additional reasons alluded to above:
The Model 32/33 .38 S&W serial range for that period of 1966-1968 was only in the low 1XX,XXX range.
The Mod 36 cyl is 1.53" long and fills the cyl window. The .38 S&W cyl on the J frame is only 1.4" long.
