This should be an easy one for those that know , picked up a model 36 sn J21694 what year do you think it is ? Thanks

Yip, pretty easy.

That's from the first J-series serial numbers, which began in 1969.

Yours likely shipped in late 1969 or early 1970.

Please give us some details (i.e., barrel length, finish, round or square butt).
