Model 36 date mystery?

Howdy

I have a Smith Model 36, 3 inch barrel, blue, with Pin barrel.
Serial # is: 352 J41

NOTE the "J" is the 4th character.

This doesn't "fit" the serial number section in Catalog of Smith and Wesson, Vol. 4. The last numbers shown begin with 1Jxxxx and then the numbers stop...... until beginning the Alpha Numeric system. Or am I missing something?

Could any one help me with this mystery?

It falls in the 71'-72' date range.

Take another look at the Catalog.

Never mind the catalog.

The "roving J series" -- according to S&W Historian Roy Jinks -- went from 1970 to 1973.

Yours likely shipped in summer '72.
