I just made the ultimate score today, a genuine 1920's style gentlemen's smoking club lounge chair
This is literally the "Steve McQueen" of all club chairs it's so cool . This is the chair that started it all.

It was sold as a gargoyle (?) but it's almost 2 feet in length and weighs 14lbs.
Sounds like a bowling ball hitting a wooden floor on concrete when it's struck, I loved the Munsters growing up, think their door knocker sound.

A nice pedestal ashtray for each chair so the occupants don't have to lean forward to knock their ash would be a fine addition (just an opinion).

Actually a side table with a heavy glass ashtray on it would be even better! Room for a cutter, wood matches, a drink… Good call!

I always enjoyed a good cigar from time to time. Used to go to this great cigar shop in town, the owner was a great guy, super helpful, and got to know him pretty well. He was super knowledgeable, held great cigar events, and was always smoking the best cigars!

I remember the day that he shared that he was sick with cancer. He died at 60 years old. I don't bother with cigars anymore. It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt, I suppose…

Doesn't make any difference, you might as well just lock yourself indoors.
Yeah, a lot of people are just predestined to get cancer whether they smoke or not. I've known of people that never smoked anything in their life to get lung cancer and people who smoked like freight trains live well into their 90's and die of old age. I believe it's more environmental and genes above all, in the end, you're either gonna get it or not regardless of what you do.

Well, I don't want to bring harsh anyone's mellow in an interesting thread but there is a huge body of science that disagrees. And it isn't just cancer that is a problem. Heart disease, high blood pressure, lung damage...the list goes on and on.

We should all max out our spending on lottery tickets because the odds are always 50/50--we either win or we don't.

Yeah, this thread isn't the place for anyone's "whataboutisms" so those that wanna pontificate on such things can take it elsewhere and open up their own thread, comments on suggestion, ideas and feedback are always welcomed.

Two weeks off to deal with some family business out of state, but finally finished my lighting yesterday, make sure to watch the video on full screen.

"Details" is what it's all about.
No big updates, just finished the inside door trim and staining, but...!
Can't have a medieval door without a medieval door lock?
Scored this 17th century functional antique rim lock and key off eBay out of England, can't tell by the picture, but this old box rim lock is a huge, 10" long and 6" in height, just what the door needed to finish it off.

Projects to do...
My 17th century rim lock finally came in from England and I'm blown away!
Weighs 4.7 lbs and bigger than I imagined, check out the size of that key!
Gave it a little Kroil down inside the mvt and now it operates smoothly with a loud CLUNK in the bolt action.

My door pull is being delivered today too, so I'll wait and get my hardware to mount all at the same time tomorrow probably, unless it gets here early.
Tonight's "Cigar Tuesday's" so I won't be working late.
The door pull is antique too and 17" long resembling a Pike, wanted something with a simple, cool looking design in itself for simplicity.

The verdigris lions head (bought elsewhere) will be mounted on the door front for the key hole cover, it came in solid brass all shiny and new, but salt and vinegar cured that after a few days.
The key "just" fits through too, what a huge key! lol

The door is finally finished, decided against the Portcullis because I didn't wanna block any of the details.
The lock operates with a gratifying "CLUNK".

How the walls will be made...
The walls won't be hard, just time consuming. The walls will be made of textured foam insulating sheets over a solid surface, concrete slurry and then painted and dry brushed, of course the stones and style can vary wildly?
Believe it or not, this is an example of someone else's wall made in this fashion, very realistic.
