The Ultimate Cigar Lounge build thread

I remember years before Covid, I could get Siglo VI's all day long for ~$450 a box and sometimes on sale, checked the other day and they're well over $3,000 for the same box, absurd! Unfortunately, I'm afraid the days of affordable Cubans are way over now that they know the market will support the price. :(
I smoked Cubans exclusively for 26 years, needless to say, I was a snob, but have since discovered the non-Cubans have come full circle and many are just as good now imo. Smoked non-Cubans for 10 years before discovering "mother earth" and the "nons" weren't what they are today.

Picked up two more identical style "French Mustache" Club Chairs. Natural patina too, not faked.
Here's one of them, check out that rake! The bad thing is my buddies ain't gonna never wanna leave after sitting in one of these. lol
More to come...

Hey Chief, I remember seeing this some time back, very cool! Thanks for sharing.
Yes, it has to be a variable speed exhaust fan to the outside plus a fresh air source or you'll run the risk of a negative air pressure, Commercial Grow House industry provide these systems that are very affordable now. My buddies have these in their lounges and we've had up to 10-11 people at once with zero smoke. The AC has to be "dedicated" or you'll have bleed over if in the house, but mines in the top floor of my garage and will have a mini-split for the hvac.
However, without the Ozinizer, the room will always stink like a stale bar. I knew someone here that only had a commercial smoke eater in his room and it evacuated the smoke great, but his entire house always stunk like my buddies rooms, they don't have the Ozonizer. The Ozonizer is key.
One of my buddy's room, that's his walk-in humidor in the back.

Fully stocked now.
Is the guy with the blackedout face in witness protection? ;)

I bought three boxes of the Siglo in 1992 when I lived in LA. I smoke one pretty much every new year eve and on special occasion - Mom's 80th and 90th birthday and such. I've found a fair number of reasonably priced "that other country" types at Cigar Terminal.

Ridiculous what they are now, Siglo VI are over $3200 a box now! I used to get em all day long for $450 or cheaper on sale a box. Sad :(

These are nailed in pretty tight, ain't no rotating them at this point.
The Portcullis will get round Clavos, (hopefully some that are spiked) at each intersection.
Thanks for commenting btw, got any pictures of your gate you can share?
no pics, we sold and moved.

Found this pic. The gates had an internal steel frame and the wood was some type of mahogany. Not quite as ornate as I remember.

Beautiful gate, gorgeous house!
Thanks for sharing.
An update...
Finished my door frame and the backside of the door, varnishing the inside of the door tomorrow. Planning on getting everything hung this week. Waiting on my iron door latch that's supposed to be delivered today, y'all are gonna love the inside of the door.
I'll get photos up as soon as it's hung.

We have a functioning door and latch, the door stop trim still needs to be added, but here she is.
Everything you see in wood from the bottom of the stairs up to the door, except the stairs, will be fake stone. (the appearance of sides being oval is just an optical allusion)
More to come...

The open space you see up to the top will be boxed in at the top and my other wrought iron lantern will hang from the center (removed gargoyle lantern temporarily for construction)
The gap between the door and facing is for the Portcullis (no, it won't be functional).

Inside of the door and Medieval latch.

Here you can the massive hinges, the 175lb door glides freely though. Notice the "overkill" blocking support in the wall, the whole wall has added horizontal cross ties between the studs for extra stability.
(because the door stop trim on the outside isn't done yet the light showing through is giving off another optical allusion)

This has got Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, and serious Braveheart vibes. Keep it up!
Thanks, around ~13th century is my idea.
I wish you could see what's going on inside my head, I always build from a visual perspective. lol

Not quite the correct scene set up, but I could also hear a French knight speaking through the speakeasy window, “I fart in your general direction! Now go away or I shall taunt you again!”

Discovered one thing, FB Marketplace is loaded with fruitcakes. Man-o-man, nut-jobs!
I'm literally stealing all these leather club chairs from people just wanting them gone, but there are some real whackos on there too! lol
Did a 4hr round trip today to pick up the green "Old Hickory Tannery Leather Co." tufted wing club chair with just the right amount of character.
This chair will be reserved for a certain friend I had in mind for it when I bought it.
Then there were four...

I had a really nice custom built cigar room (12 x 20 ft) in my former home up North. It actually over looked my train room which was 30 x 40ft with an 18 foot ceiling. I had the builder install a variable speed exhaust fan that actually pulled the smoke out - instead of recirculating it. I had up to 8 guys puffing away at one time and a few hours later know one would know there were cigars being smoked. I did have to crack a window so the air that was exhausted was replaced by fresh air. When I smoked cigars in the summer I'd not use the ac unit - although that train & cigar room had its own 3.5 ton unit anyway. Most of the time summer cigars were smoked outdoors anyway.

Where I live now my cigar lounge is outdoors on the Lanai. Since it's FL - no issues
Train Room, Cigars, So cool. My "escape room" is my 16x20 garage/shop with my workbench, 3 stools a 1956 fridge and a butt load of old cans and stuff I've saved since the 70's. I have fixed so many friend's mowers, power tools, fans, AC units etc. over 35 years. It's my Dad spot. But your spot is way cool.
