I have a Model 36 revolver with the serial number 557j64. I wanted to know the year of manufacture. Also wonder if the S&W grips were real stag handles. The firing Pini's also a little loose in the hammer. Is that normal? I pretty sure it is not so sorry if it seems like a stupid question. Thanks in advance for any help.

Roaming the threads and saw that firing pin should be loose. One question answered.

Serial number would date your Model 36 to 1972.

The grips appear to be imitation stags made by Jay Scott . . . very popular in their day.
