I have a S&W, Model 36 that I purchased new in the mid 1970's. Is it OK to occasionally shoot +P's in it from time to time? I never shoot more than 5 at the range and even then very seldom, but do carry for self-defense.

Yes, this is commonly done and perfectly safe. Be sure to note if the +P has a different point of impact, which may be important if you have to use them in a defensive situation. Hope this is helpful.

The amount of +P you are putting through your #36 should not hurt it.
How much would you have to put through one to hurt it?
I ask because I have one from the late 60's that I haven't had a chance to shoot much yet....
Thanks much for replies. This gun, although 40 plus years old is still like new. Don't know how many rounds I've shot through it, but probably less than 1000, as I've got plenty other 38's to also shoot. When I don't carry it, it's wiped down and stored in an oil-soaked rag, simply to protect the bluing which is still about 95% perfect. One bad place, probably from a fingerprint I failed to wife off right by the cylinder release.
