I just got this today ;Iwas wondering when it was mfg. Serial # is 80645. Thanks for any help.

Is there a J prefix,if so it's 1969-70,if no J prefix 1955.

There is no J prefix in front of the serial # ,flat latch, diamond grips, gun is unfired , no box, Iwas also wondering what it is the value of this model?I bought it for $535.00 at a local gun show. Thanks and SEMPER FI!

I'm no expert on prices but I think for an early 36 that's a good price.

Flat Latch is a dead givaway, mid 50's. I have my father-in-laws off duty M-36, he was appointed in 1955-56. Your gun looks mint, my dad's needs to be refinished. I'm thinking of sending his and mine (1979) to S & W and have both refinished by them.
