OK, it's really going to be The Wife's S&W Model 37...but, hey!
We were discussing what she might want and I knew of this particular gun at a nearby shop. She said, "Get it. Put it on lay-away, OK?"
I said, "OK...!"
It's a square-butt model with the serial # J7371xx.
Not perfect; showing a little bit of surface rust/pitting on one area of the cylinder and the front of the right side of the bbl.
It's marked .38 SPL.CTG.
Otherwise, it's pretty nice.
I'm thrilled to have her get it and it will be hers.
( That means I'll be looking for the 649/.357 next year...

So, the typical questions follow.
Is there a link on the web to determine the date of mfg.?
Oh, yeah...pix to follow! or it didn't happen!

GREETINGS UPPER LEFT COAST . . . FROM THE LOWER RIGHT COAST!

My wife's not a gun nut, but she got motivated after a string of attacks on ladies in our town a year or so ago.

So she asked me to take her shooting and help her get a gun for an upcoming course taught for LADIES by our Sheriff and District Attorney. God bless 'em . . . the Sheriff and D.A. trained over 400 ladies in awareness basics AND firearms training in our little town . . . and the bad guys have backed off!

She shot every type of gun I own and she settled on a revolver. Specifically, she liked my Model 65 with a 3" barrel . . . although it was "HEAVY." She shot it well too!

Then, this past spring I found a Model 37 no dash, square butt locally . . . with a 3" barrel. Made in '71 (the year she graduated from high school) I thought it would make a great birthday present (and it did).

She LOVES her little, light Model 37 and the 3" barrel has allowed her to shoot it quite well too!

At the Sheriff's course, her firearms instructor was quite impressed with the way she shot and handled the gun. All "A" zone hits too!

I think your lady will enjoy her M37 no dash too!

Finally got some pix uploaded.
Not the best pix, but you can see the minor flaws. We'll decide if it will get a refinish at a later date. For now, all we need to do is get it dialed-in.
We may get the Pachmayr Compac grip on there. The other choice might be the Hideout, if the Wife likes it.
I'm stoked for her getting a nice little AIRWEIGHT. I think it was a good decision.

Here's my 3" Model 37 with Pachmayer Gripper grips. I think they are like the Compac except have finger grooves. They are like new.

If you're interested, you can have them for $15 shipped.

You and your wife will love the 37, These are the grips I setteled on after a year carrying it, I am not sure why, But get what feels right!

Nice choice...Those small spots are nothing to me. I have bought many like that and when it gets carried it will get more. Enjoy it like it is.

Pretty nice 37 you got there.

Try The Pre-lim thing to get the rust away, then apply some Renaissance wax to keep it bright !
