Model 37

Have a chance to pick up a Model 37 Airweight 3 inch barrel made in 1967.
Not being a wheel gun man (only have a J frame) I would like to know the pro's & cons of this model.
Also any help to determine how tight the gun is. and if there are any weak spots for this model.
I see prices for these guns all over the board any help determining a fair prce would be appreciated

I'll jump in here.

Pro: light weight, somewhat negated by being the 3" version.

Con: definitely not well suited to +P self defense ammo.

Tightness: if in any doubt on this point, give it a pass.

"Fair" Price: a lot more info needed - nickel or blued, original stocks (grips) or otherwise, with box or not, and condition, condition, condition!
Also, regional variances in pricing may apply.

more info needed to determine a fair price. I love mine but has the 1 7/8" barrel. Great pocket gun with the short barrel. I have not seen a 3" in person but would guess it would be a little better a longer distances. I really don't care if it shoots +P's or not. I figure that a 158 LRN standard pressure round will do the job @ 5 to 7 yards anyways.

Man says 98%, blued all paper work' original box
been in a safty deposit box for a long time with no ill effects.

Have not seen it yet in person Looking at $350 dollars.

I dont shoot +P in any of my guns so that is not an issue.

My 3" 37-no dash has a little wear on the cylinder. No box, papers, etc. I paid $269 for it a few years ago. Accuracy is better than my 642 and just about as concealable.

Excellent light carry piece. Not the best for +P ammo, but some +P shooting won't hurt it. $350 is not bad for one that's really nice -- I'd offer maybe $275 and be ready to negotiate.

From what I have seen recently, the selling price for a 98% 37 is about $300 - $350. Be sure to check the frame and yoke area for any cracks in the aluminum. I have carried my 37 with the 1 7/8" bbl for several years and have had no problems, in fact I prefer it over the new J frames.

M37, 2" nickel, NIB, unfired, box, no tools or docs : $550 & my wife was happy -- its hers.

I can't think of a reason not to buy one.
