Model 38 age?

I have recently become the proud owner of a like new Model 38 Bodyguard. I'm not going to say what I paid for it, but I have been asked how I sleep at night. I am an auto guy and haven't touched a revolver since the 70's, but I have to say that may be changing. This thing is a great carry piece and a blast to shoot. I have decided to give my old Makarov a little break. I went to the local shop to see if he had a book dating this thing, but they are closed until mid-Oct. Anyone have any idea how old this thing is? The serial number is AWE0XXX (not sure if that's a capital "o" or a zero).

Welcome to the Forum! Your gun dates to 1987. If you have the factory box, you can tell from the end label the exact day.

Thanks Photoman. I didn't think it was too old. Unfortunately I received no box. Only the gun and a nice DeSantis belt holster with it.
