I bought a M39-2 here on the Forum a few years back. The guide rod is scarred up-not sure if it's from use in the gun or a previous owner worked on it. It doesn't look right to me. I am looking for a replacement. Any ideas?

If you mean the finish is scuffed off the outside of the rod this is normal for used gun.

If you want a replacement and still can't find this part I can make up these type guide rods for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Gen S&W autos. Since I'm not a business I don't usually keep any items in stock. I make the rods up on request as a hobby and to help out S&W enthusiasts (It usually takes a week or so). These are one piece all stainless steel, including the spring, hand turned and polished. My rods are slightly different from the OEM rods due to the springs I could source being longer. I also have a model 39-2 so I can check the finished rod for fit and function. I charge $60 per rod including postage. If you order more than one I can do additional rods for $50 each. This covers materials and my time, and helps keep me shooting. You should be able to find a few comments about these guide rods by searching for posts containing (peh_7 and/or Paul Howell). If you're interested payment can be made to my PayPal account at the following email address. Please let me know if you have any questions. Also, please send a reply to my personal email, with your mailing address, if you decide to order one.

Thanks - Paul Howell
