I just picked up a 39-2 that has an issue with the bluing. Some spots look like they were cleaned with some solution that peeled the blue off.

Serial number is A167062. Got a guess at age?

I have two other 39-2 pistols.

This one doesn't want to let the slide come off after pulling the slide retaining pin. Suggestions?

The finish on the receiver looks odd. Anodizing does not flake off, the front edge of the dust cover looks like it is rounded and the finish looks like it has some porosity at the front edge of the dust cover. I'm thinking this one might have been very well worn or someone removed the anodized finish and then refinished it with a spray on finish like Cerakote or Gunkote.

As long as you did not over pay it will be a good shooter grade piece. I gave $300 for one that was a bit rough a couple of years ago. It shoots well, and I do not have to worry about scratching it.

Use Kroil to loosen it up.
You could always strip it down and refinish. This one was a complete mess, someone used JB epoxy to mount a flashlight mount and I had to grind it all off. Glass beaded and used Duracoat on the frame and slide then touched up all the metal bits. Came out pretty decent considering and is a very good shooter too. Note, a complete tear down is not for the faint of heart lol.
