Model 39 Leather

Thought you all may be interested in these pics. The Safariland Holster is my favorite. The gun rides high with a forward cant. Inside is beautifully lined and no metal escutcheons are exposed. Check out the sight channel constructed of layers of leather. Gun draws easily. So, if you spot one at a gun show or the used parts bin at your local shop...now you know

Another 39 Holster

Here's a Hunter Holster...not sure what it was originally designed for, but the 39 fits great. This holster offers a little more protection for the gun with the closed muzzle end and a little more coverage around the trigger area. It rides a little lower than the Safariland, but is very comfortable while hiking. I took a photo of back so you can see adjustable strap and model number.

L to R my 9mm S&W holsters are

Galco 9022 Lg Frame auto (fits square trigger), Bianchi #19L, Safariland G87 S&W 9mm with wire loop retainer , Bianchi Nylon, Leather IWB.

My favorite is the Safariland G87 S&W 9mm with wire loop retainer because it doesnt require a belt.

This is what happens after years of drawing from a holster with exposed snaps on the thumb break.

Both sides look like this ...

I use Galco or Lobo paddles now without thumb breaks.

This old M39 may look beat but it is far and away the most accurate of all the S&W autos I have, and a real joy to shoot. It's wearing some smooth grips in this pic, but usually wears stock grips.

Ahh, very nice, a model 39 no dash! I love the look of the long extractor. I bought one used a few years ago and sold my NIB 39-2! Mine is quite accurate too.

I've found that the holsters I've got for a Colt Commander, fit my 39-2 just fine.

Guys, thanks for sharing. Bruce, that 39 looks sharp...nothing wrong with a few marks to show it has been a faithful companion.
Quick question...Will a 39 mag fit snugly in a single leather mag pouch (with snap cover) designed for a 1911, or will it wobble around a bit?

It will flop around. The .45ACP single stack mags are fatter.

The magazines I have for my current 39-2 will fit in that magazine pouch without flopping around, but they are the new nine round magazines. The leather flap holds them in place, and has to be snapped in the lower snap.

Thanks, I think I'll just bring a mag to the next gun show and look through the boxes of used leather.
