Model 40 Grip Question

Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to use the Crimson Trace Defender Series Laser Grips on a Model 40 Lemon Squeezer?
This is the model I am speaking of, they are open in the back...

What I can tell you is that the locating disc on the earlier Model 40/42 is smaller than on other J frames. Not sure about the newly reintroduced model. Is yours an older one or the new model?

I don't have one but was thinking about getting one of the new ones.

The locater discs of the new model 40/42 is smaller just like the older lemon squeezer Centennials..
You could modify them smaller with a dremel & get them to fit..
I only know this because I bought a Pre 40 #248 without the factory grips & modified a set of open backed Pachmayrs to work on it till I got a set of the factory high horns..
IIRC I used a small round disc the size of the original. like a dime, & marked the grips & then cut away with a small burr & checked for fit as I went..
You could also remove the mainspring by pulling the trigger part way till the hole in the plunger shows & put a paper clip in the hole & release then remove the housing captured, Then put one grip on the locater pin & push up flush with the back strap & reach threw & mark it with a scribe & then do the other side..
It would be hard to cut a $200+ set of grips but could be done without damage if your carefull..

Thanks TLG. I don't really like the side mounted models however. I have one of the new 38 Bodyguards and cannot get used to activating the laser with my thumb. I am sure I would never get it on in a high stress situation, so I am planning on selling it and getting a Centennial type revolver and putting CT grips on it. I like the nickel finish on the 40s over the brushed SS of the 642, that is why I was looking at that model. Can anyone recommend a nickel Centennial that is a standard J frame.

Oh, and TLG, I see you are in WV also, I am in Cabell County over by KY and OH.

I am from Harrision County. I carry a 442 with a C.T. LG-105 like you mentioned. For me, I like the blue finish.
