I just acquired a 4006 with the original factory Novak fixed night sights. Had it out at the range and it seems to be sighted for a very close range. Does anyone know the official distance that the stock 4006 fixed sights were designed to meet?

Thanks in advance!

Depends on the ammo

What kind of ammo are you shooting? My 4006 is pretty close to right on with full 180 gr loads at 12 yards. The bullets will be higher or lower depending on weight and velocity.

The fixed sights are set for a "dead on" hold .vs a 6 o'clock target hold. The front blade should be level with the top of the rear sight and covering the target.

I was shooting 165 gr. handloads that were probably going out at around 1000 FPS (I did not chronograph). Biggest problem was most likely shooting at a target nominally 25 yards out! :(
