model-41 22 magazine release

my model-41 22 frequently releases the magazine, is this a common problem?? is there a known fix??

The first thing that I check is to make sure that the left grip panel isn't rubbing or interfering with the magazine release button. Is this pistol new to you? We probably need a little more information.

If you're shooting two-handed, make sure your support hand isn't pushing against it. The button does stick out quite a ways.

While the M41 has a quirk or two, that isn't a common one - or at least this is the first I'm hearing it regarding the M41.

Unless there is a defect or poorly fit release mechanism, I suspect the button is just being pushed inadvertently. Might pay for you to have a friend video you shooting the gun to see what is happening.

My new M41 had that issue right out of the box. The magazine drops out after the second shot or third shot. The dealer sent it back to S&W six weeks ago. I'm hoping to get it back next week. Just discovered this forum today.

Then Id say the new guns contain defectively manufactured parts. Send it back!

Mag release adjustment

Depress the small pin on the release and turn clockwise a quarter turn and re-try. may take a little more, but don't over do it.
