So according to the SWSC you can put a model 46 barrel and 46 slide on a 41 frame.

I just so happen to have a model 46 barrel and slide. I can get them together but the slide will not go into battery, is there something that I am missing? Do these parts need to be fitted?

Any and all help would be grateful.

Does the bbl match the slide? Has the bbl/slide combo come off a 46 frame where all is functioning? A curved slide needs to match a curved bbl at juncture of slide rail to body.

Have swapped them a few times with no problem, but may need fitting?

I agree with Thom in that some of them need to be fitted . Not all the models of 46 will just interchange. It depends on which cut the slide has on it as well. There was basically 2 different batchs of 46's made. Only around 4000 in total.

They may well be 2 different ages which could cause your problem.

In my experience slides and barrels are interchangeable most of the time, if a correct match and cut.

First thing to check is the slide cut and the barrel cut.
A square cut slide will fit a square or round cut barrel, a round cut slide needs to be fitted to a round cut slide. see pictures for the meaning of the cut.

Nice serial No's on those 2- 46's Jamie. Part of your collection I would suspect.

Well this absolutely needs to be fitted. Is this a real difficult job or can it be done with some files, emory paper, and patience? Or does it require a gunsmith?
