Can some please let me know what the small extention is at the end of this barrel...not sure what it is, or the purpose.

Thanks,

Jay

ITS A CAP TO PROTECT THE FRONT OF THE BARREL WHEN YOU TAKE OFF THE COMP. NICE GRIPS I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A SET LIKE THEM FOR AWHILE

Hello,
That darker black piece at the end of the barrel is called a "False Muzzle" or muzzle cap. It covers up the protruding end of the barrel. Your barrel was originally designed for a muzzle break that is fitted over the end of the protruding barrel and attached by the same screw. The cap was designed to cover up that protruding end when you have the muzzle break off, purely cosmetic. Here's a pic of mine with the muzzle break attached.

The False Muzzle is a good idea if you are going to shoot with the Muzzle Brake.

Is there a place I should be looking for the muzzle cap and screw in weights? I am a new owner (02-13-2015) of a model 41 built in 1967 it came in a zipper case, no box and nothing other the weapon with the 7" barrel, muzzle brake and one clip. Thanks Scott

Hello,
The muzzle brake is screwed into one of the 2 internal weights that came with your 41 when new. The 2 internal weights were steel and alloy. I have seen the internal weights listed in the classifieds here on the Forum. I would keep an eye out on the big gun auction sites and on eBay for a false muzzle and the internal weights as they do make an appearance from time to time.
