Model 41 blitzing it....

A little jewelers file work on new manf. magazines and they will work perfect. Besides the old Bullseye shooters passing on, so has the old guard at S&W that put these guns together in the past.

As far as the old guard at he Factory os concerned - I agree. As far as the Jewelers file goes - I don't. I have fixed more than a few magazines in my time and after buying 4 brans new ones in the package a few years back - the only thing that could fix them was a steam roller. Seriously, they were so mis-manufactured they were beyond tweaking! maybe that was just that one particular batch, but after receiving 4 out of 4 worthless mag's I formed my opinion. It is possible they've improved them, however personally I will steer clear of them. Don't know who is making them for S&W but they should change vendors IMHO!

1982 mod 41

I have 5 mags,2 that I got with the gun and 3 I bought later. They all have plastic followers. When I load them I stand them up on their floor plate and use a HILLjak assist. Even though they are single stack the rounds still stagger as they are loaded.

When your done loading one turn it on it's side and look at the reflections on the rounds through the window on the side of the mag.
You should see a high reflection 4 times equally spaced.

I don't get the same condition when holding the mag on my lap and loading. Try it.

In regards to magazines I have a mid 1970's model 41 that came with 1 metal follower magazine and I have bought 5 newer magazines with plastic followers and they all work well. There are some twelve shot mags with orange plastic followers I have heard that these can be difficult but don't know from personal experience.
