Got this from a buddy I shoot Cowboy with. Now what would a waddie do with a model 41 with two barrels? Grin a lot in my case. Been trying to get this one for a while. He bought it new in 1978 ordered a 5" barrel in 1987 (receipt from S&W for $105.82 for barrel is in box). Has box, docs, unopened tool kit. Everything as it should be. I am one tickled cowboy today. 9 bills and he drove to my house. How'd I do?

That should be a 5" barrel, not 4". If it's 4", I'd be real curious to know more about that.

Do NOT shoot high velocity 22s out of the 41. Standard Velocity only. Not only is SV more accurate, it won't beat the tar out of the breech face. CCI SV works just fine.

Josy, you are correct. 5 not 4 inch. My typing skills somewhat lacking. Thank you Sir.

Thanks for the pics and info Biginge. You did great, best of luck and enjoy your new toy.

I'd say you did pretty good especially with two barrels. However, the short barrel is 5.5" not 5". There is a diffenece. In addition to longer barrels, S&W made a 5.5" heavy barrel (with both fixed and extendable front sight) and a 5" lightweight field barrel. The 5.5" heavy barrel is probably the most popular and is preferred by most Bullseye shooters. The 5" lightweight field barrel is basically a cut down long barrel and offered a lighter, more compact setup for field use.

If you're a cowboy shooter you may not be able to handle to fierce recoil that 41 has with SV ammo. I mean knowing how you pussies download your ammo.

My bad. I just bought a field barrel from a friend, so I had 5" on the brain.

We have to light load it. As fast as we are the steel plates could pitch it back at us. Target acquisition times are consuming. Maybe I should wear some Past recoil gloves in prep for the recoil of the 41?
