Well, I have always lusted after a model 41. I have Buckmarks, and Rugers, and various Smith revolvers, but not a 41. Never even shot one. Got a line on one a a local shop. FANTASTIC trigger, 7" barrel, box and two mags. no bluing loss, but its been shot some. What should I look for on these? SErial # is A670607.... Can you help me with date.

He will go $800 out the door including tax and everything... Decent price?

Early gun. 70's? and the price seems right. ( I got two of them).

Buy it!!!!

That's a good deal. I am a serial 41 buyer and also shoot them in competion. I use mine in steel matches in the summer and pins in the winter. The 41 outperforms the Rugers, Buckmarks, High Standards and Colt Woodsmen. The only 22 better is a model 617 10-shot because when you have a dud you just keep going around the cylinder.

Once in a very great while I see one under $800 without box usually with minor cosmetic issues. Judging by GB I would say that $800 is at the market.
So, could you do better? I imagine if you found a local private party, but that may never happen.
I see that on GB new ones are selling for $885 to 900. So used M41s really hold their value

MY EXPERIENCE WITH MODEL 41 22LR PISTOLS LEFT LOTS TO BE DESIRED.

I have owned a 5 1/2" version and a 7 1/2" version. Neither shot all that well and were VERY picky as to their diet.
I would NEVER buy another without test firing it first.
My first RUGER 6" STANDARD 22 pistol bought brand new in 1962 for the original price of $37.50 would eat the breakfast , dinner, and supper of both the above mentioned S&W M41 pistols It still perplexes me. Probably just luck of the draw.

That's a fair price for the 41...talk him into a brick of ammo to go with it...make sure it's standard vel... the 41 will work better with it. Purchased my first 41 when they first came out, around 1961 and shot it for many years...rebuilt a few times(smith & Wesson always had a gunsmith a big matches)....

My Hi STD Supermatic will out shoot my 41 ,but you have to factor in the availibility of parts and repair service. I do not know if the new Hi Std company will fix older pistols. I have had a couple HS guns that Mr Bob Shea fixed,,but I dont know if his services are still available. I would go with the 41

I agree on the diet part, I purchased an older 41, it doesn't have dovetails, standard velocity ammo is very accurate but ejection is a problem, high velocity it ejects great but accuracy is horrible its been sitting in a drawer for a year, I don't think I fired 200 rounds through it.

The price of $800 sounds reasonable. Also, I have two M41's one purchesed new, and the other I purchased used. I have only fired CCI standard velocity rounds. They both work so well I'm afraid to try anything else.
