Hello, everyone.
My LGS is holding a used Model 41 for me until I can go check it out after work.
The rep couldn't tell me much about it over the phone other than he thinks it's a newer one, so I'm looking for some advice prior to me going to look at it.
It's priced at $995.
Thanks for any comments or advice...

Smith and Wesson's MSRP is $1369.00 Brand spanking new in the box.
Make sure it is extra nice shape, if it looks rode hard and put away wet dicker on that primo price.

Thanks for responding...
I went a checked out the Model 41 tonight. What a nice feel to it a little heavy but I like that. It's in very nice condition, with one extra mag but no box. One the guys looked it up and placed its build year of '79-'80.
With no box, will this thing hold value over time?

You will not lose any money by owning this gun. Like anything else just look after it and it will look after you on the range. I would offer him about $100.00 less to see if they will take it or not. Never hurts to try.

I have my A600k serial numbered gun bought slightly used in 1982 for $325. Yes, you will love it and it will hold its value. Last gun I would sell, and the one the kids will fight over as they throw dirt on my coffin :-)

Thanks for any comments or advice...
Decent used Model 41's under $1K seem to go really quick around here. Lack of the box and tools seems a little odd for a 41 in excellent condition otherwise, but the spare magazine is a plus. If you can get any substantial money off the asking price that would be great, but don't be too surprised if the dealer holds firm at $1K.

Model 41 aficionados think of the vintage of their guns like they are fine wines. :) I own two of them. One from the highly acclaimed days and one from the perceived darker period. Yes, there is a discernible difference... but I doubt you are going to find one of the older ones in great shape for under $1K anywhere. Lord knows I'd never sell my older one for that.

If it is in good shape I would snap it up, they are selling for at least that much these days. I have one from the late 70's and love it. Great fun to shoot.
