Yes model 41s are finicky and yes; CCI Standard Velocity is known to function well in those pistols.

No, but it might just kill the powder charge. I had a match that I used one of my Model 41s in. To be able to go up to the firing line in a calm state of mind, I decided to load up my magazines the night before. In the process I put some oil on the top round in the magazines.

So the next day I went up to the firing line for the match. I fired the first round and I got more of a mouse belch than a Bang. Since it was slow fire, I dropped the magazine, ejected the empty case and put my weed whacker line through the barrel from breech to muzzle. No stuck bullet. Fired another round, all of the same things occurred. The remaining rounds went off and ejected just fine. I came to the conclusion that overnight enough oil leaked into the top 2 rounds in the magazine to partially deaden the powder charge.

I have a minty 1962 era 41 that I recently acquired and so far I have only shot the dirty Remington Thunderbolt, and Eley Match through it and both functioned in the few mags I fired. Not hardly a scientific data set though.


I have a similar feeling (but totally different design) model 422 that I have probably fired 25k+ rounds through it and it will absolutely fire ANYTHING I give it. Recently it started jamming and I swapped mags and it worked perfectly again. I realized that mag spring was worn out and barely even pushed up. Thankfully, after the AWB expired, I bought a bunch of the orange followers and springs so I just swapped it out and back in business.

I love the feel of these series. I have all of them and they can all share the 10 or 12 round magazine with the M41. I have the 422, 622, 622VR, 2206, 2213, & 2214.
