Can anyone tell me anything about these? I have searched quite a bit with no results other than a few pictures of others.

It appears that the box is a replacement given the label has been "whited-out". So I'm not sure it is of much help. You have a Model 41 that appears to have been refinished from blue to nickel. Check the grip frame under the grips for markings, in the slim chance it was a factory refinish. Either way, it is nearly guaranteed to be a refinished gun.

i called s&w to see if it had been sent back to be refinished and they had no record of either serial number. Whoever did the job, it's the best that I have ever seen factory or not. I was also curious of value or what it would cost to replicate.

Looks like a hard chrome or armoloy finish to me.

Bingo!! My reaction exactly. Several edges are over-buffed which indicates a second-rate job by a buffing wheel maniac. The finish is highly likely to be chrome. You have a shooter that won't rust. Don't waste money on a letter because collector value in nil.

My vote is aftermarket.
Not often encountered, but I have seen one identical gun about 15 years ago.It was not factory done.

Over the years we have seen several M41;s on here that have a nice chromed or nickle finish on them. I suspect they were all aftermarket jobs on them by some owners in the past who wanted that look. I myself would not pay any extra for this finish at all.

yep, as i was scrolling down reading i was wondering why nobody had this observation then i scrolled to your post.
beause of lighting angles or other factors it's often hard to know what you're really looking at but my perception is a hard chrome refinish.

Well even with the aftermarket re-finish I'd buy it in a heartbeat if I were you if the price was right (50% less what an original 41 from that era was going for). Good looking shooter grade 41 in my opinion.

Most likely this is a hard chrome finish. Nickel plating is "thicker" and on a tight target pistol would interfere with function.

My first impression is "I LIKE it." It is not an original finish but so what?

As for it not having any collector value, maybe, maybe not. I would be very happy to "collect" it. Seems like most 41's of that type are going for @ $1000.00, I doubt this example is only worth @ $500.00. It all depends on ones personal value of it, and what one would sell/pay for it.

You all have to remember that two years ago, someone posted about another different 41. Everyone said it was not, and could not be a Loveless Field Gun. Guess what, it WAS. Good for me, bad for the guy offering it 6 months later on Gunauction.

So anyway, to the OP thanks for sharing the 41. But remember that even our own expert 41 people can get it wrong.

Jim

Right now I know were there is a 41 nickel plate with both barrels
2 mags and big match grips. It has some issues with finish, I
keep looking at it but can't talk myself into buying it. Price is
$550 and guy may come down a little. Box is with it too. Guy has
touched up bad spots with silver paint.

Wow silver paint? Still 550 for a 41 with two barrels, two mags and a box would be tempting.

If you do not buy that one then please PM me as I am interested in it. Thanks.

If I knew where it was I would be all over it like a Fat Kid on a Candy Bar. It would be gone in a flash even at that price.
