Has anyone had any experience with these. What is different from the production Models?

Welcome from Texas BENJIM. Great forum for all things S&W, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.

Others will be along with more information, but I would direct you to the semi auto section. Lots more traffic and good folks to answer.

I can only tell you the Model 41's I have shot (not PC guns) were the smoothest, bestest (yeah I know) funnest (well I am on a roll) target 22 I have ever shot.

This comes from one that loves my Ruger Mark II, it will always go to the range with me.

But the Model 41 is step up.

THANKS FOR THE WELCOME NEW AT THIS SO IT M IGHT TAKE A BIT TO GET THE HANG OF IT. i HAVE A COUPLE OF 41'S 1 7" and one 5" love them as well as my 17's and 617. Got a Ruger Mk 3 Target that does real well for the money thanks for the info

Welcome to the forum from MN. Go to Smiths website and search for 178031. I have one and have been very pleased with how it has shot. They are a exclusive through Davidsons Gallery of guns.

Welcome from a Canadian member on here as well. Just love my 41 also.

I have one of the PC 41s. It is very accurate, fits my hand like it grew there, the trigger is a dream, but it has been unreliable. I am currently running 7.5% stovepipes with CCI SV, but it only has about 700 rounds through it and i am willing to give it some more time. I am going to try some Eley if UPS ever delivers it. I keep the gun lubed and clean enough to eat off of, but after about 50 rounds the stovepipes begin. If it ever functions reliably it will be my favorite, last week despite the stovepipes, the bullseye was obliterated after 200 rounds. Never did that with my 9mm.

Gdauth check how good your extractor holds a cartridge, it may need a slight mod.

Thanks bigi, I already did that. I tried 2 different extractor tests, it passed both. In fact had a round stuck in the chamber and the darn extractor wouldn't let go. I couldn't open the slide, the range officer had to use a rod through the barrel to push the round out. Looks like the lead bullet was either deformed or too big. The least little crud in the chamber and it malfunctions.

Good so now keep trying different ammo you maybe surprised what will work. My Model17 ejects(from cylinder) without any force only Federal Champion bulk ammo. Its copper clad 36gr 1260fps cartridge. Less fouling too.
