I have a model 41 which I absolutely love. We took all the kids down to our home range (we live way out in the country) after our Thanksgiving meal was done. My daughter loves to shoot the 41 as much as I do, and she noticed right off the bat, that the slide release lever was missing. Just the lever on the outside of the slide, the gun still functions and fires fine....I have absolutely no idea what happened, or where it went...

The slidestop/ejector is a unit made of several pieces. Will need to replace. Depending on age of pistol, S&W should replace it. Generally a drop in replacement, but may need some fitting. Guessing yours is a fairly current mfg as never known of the old ones coming apart. If S&W or Numrich or Brownells does not have them, I can supply one. Mine are older production.

Thanks for the reply, I bought it from a co-worker (at a really good price)about a year ago. The gun has approaching 1000 rounds threw it by out family..I can't call Smith until Monday due to the time, but the serial number is UBB**** if that helps determine the mfg year

Yours is later production and the parts should be readily available. Brownells or Midway USA will have the parts. Mine looks fairly straight foward to replace but as Tom said, Smith will do it for you they are really good about their high end guns.

UBB is 97 or later and would expect S&W to make it good. Later production has had it's share of quality problems. Would expect it should have S&W fit the part, so sending the whole pistol back would be suggested.

Pistol on it's way to Smith...They said it was not a "drop in" part...But said it would be taken care of, no problems.. Ya gotta love great CS
