I need some help please. I have a new performance center model 41 and for the first six or 700 rounds through it I was having two or three stove pipes in each magazine. That now seems to have cleared up for the most part. I was using CCI SV for about 800 rounds now and it seems to have smoothed everything out . However, yesterday I was cleaning the pistol after a visit to the range and I took a good look down my barrel today from the ramp end. About 3/4" or so in, there seems to be a circular 'break' that goes around the whole inside of the barrel and then after this little crack, the barrel continues perfectly. I have never noticed this on any other handgun barrel I have. Is this normal or do I have a cracked barrel? I should also add that the pistol is extremely accurate! So whatever is going on in the barrel right now doesn't seem to be affecting the accuracy. Thanks.

It's a rimfire. That is the chamber I would think.

Model 41 barrel

Thanks for the response. I'm not sure if you mean that is definitely the chamber or that it might be?

Kensui Welcome to the forum. WE are glad you are using CCI SV in that new gun. I suggest taking a Brass brush on a good cleaning rod meant for a 22cal barrel and see if this ring comes off of it A good pic placed on here will help understand a lot better what you are seeing. A closeup pic will tell us a lot about what is really going on.

Thanks

Hi Barrie...Unfortunately I don't have a camera that can take a decent picture of the inside of the barrel. I will take a closer look tomorrow morning and do a little bit of brushing and scrubbing just not too much. Have you seen this and other barrels? That is, something that looks like a clean break all around? Thanks

Hi Kensui and welcome to the board. Attached is a picture of my PC41 from the breech end. If yours looks like this then your barrel is perfectly normal.

If this is a new Model 41, put a small drop of oil on the brass right below the bullet on the first round. And the same on every mag you plan on shooting, you can get more info about this on the Bullseye Forum.

I think Kidcom just solved the mystery....

Excellent!

Yes, Kidcoms photo looks just like my barrel...so thanks so much for putting my fear to rest! Cheers

I was shooting at my club earlier this evening and a friend who has around 5000 rounds on his newer M41 PC M41 was having serious issues with his gun. He only shoots CCI SV thru it but got a bad batch as he had stovepipes and all kinds of misbehavior problems until he changed the series of the box of CCI SV he was useing. Rare to see but it does happen on rare occasions even CCI SV produces a Bad Batch. My 60 year old m41 did not like it either as it did the same to me with my 1958 M41.

Good advice

Thanks Barrie...good advice. I'll try another batch of the CCI SV this Friday at the range.
Cheers

Fewer stovepipes yesterday. Tried different box of CCISV and drop of oil on the top round of some mags. I'm hoping each week for fewer stovepipes...we shall see...

Be patient with it as it will get much better for you. You will be glad you did in time.
