Model 41 trigger hard to pull

This just started.
Every now and then the trigger will hang up and be very hard to pull. Not the normal 2#, which it is 90% of the time.
It will fire with enough pressure. Then it goes back to being the 2# trigger.

So what could be the issue? Is it mechanical or does the lower just need a good cleaning?

I had the same issue, actually started in the middle of a timed fire string in a match. Not good. I gave it a good cleaning, including removing the grips and scrubbing everything I could reach. Evidently there was a fragment of gunk lodged somewhere important, it's worked flawlessly ever since.

This happened to me and the over travel set screw needed to be adjusted as it probably backed out a little over the years.

Longshot: Maybe polish up the trigger/sear bar.

Well I found what the problem was, and it seems this happens a lot. As I'm shooting my thumb engages the safety. It doesn't move it much but it's enough.
Now the question is how do I fix it?

It will also happen if you are subconsciously maintaining a ever so slight pressure on the trigger between shots, which tends to happen in rapid fire scenarios.
