Model 41

I am looking to purchase a model 41 with a 5-1/2 "barrel that is in 98% cond. and the serial # is TAF 22--. It comes with box and papers. What would be the value and year of production of this gun? Thanks for your help. Charlie

Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson #3 shows TAA to TAD prefix being manufactured in 1984, and then jumps to TAK in 1986. Based on that info I would guess your gun to be early 1985. If I were buying the gun you describe, I'd be prepared to pay between $850 and $950.
