Just saw one of these for the first time today.
Anyone have one and how do you like it? Seems like a good practice gun but I'm not sure how useful a DOA fix sighted 2" 22 is.....
Did they just answer a question no one was asking?
Thoughts?

....Thanks

I picked one up on a GunBroker auction a couple years ago, the version with the lightweight cylinder. Given the price of 22LR ammo these days I don't shoot it that much, but it makes a good trail gun. Mine has the 3.5" barrel, which I prefer over the shorter tubes. With a lot of shooting the forcing cone seems to clog/pack with lead residue, but that may be more of an ammo issue. I think I'd like a 63 better. But the 43 sure is light!

I've never heard of the C model 43, you say it has fixed sights and is DOA(?) or DAO? Please post some pixs?

I bought one of these for my wife CC. It's light weight and very controllable for her. Because of the low recoil she is not afraid to shoot it and is able hit a target 7 yards away easily.

The trigger pull is typical of a S&W J frame revolver and quality is fine.

Yes, a bigger calibere like a 38 would be better, but is it better for her to miss with a 38 or pull off a few rounds of high velocity 22 LR hollow points? She pretty much takes it where ever she goes because it's so portable.

Nice little J frame and highly recommended for purpose described above.

I have had my 43C for about two years. Great practice gun as I regularly carry either a 640-1 or 642-1. These Centennial frames are extremely accurate if you do your part. I also cary the 43C when fishing and turtles fear me!

Only new Smith...........

........I have bought since the 70s and it is great! (No Hole though)

The 43c is the continental frame unlike the original 43 that had an exposed hammer and was discontinued in the 70's. The one I saw had no lock. Interesting little gun.

I'm glad you guys had better luck with your 43C. I bought one new. The first time out after about 50rds the front of the cylender and the face of the forcing cone leaded up so bad the cylender woulden't turn at all. Took it home cleaned it the best I could shot it again and the same thing happened. Being 22 you expect it to spit a little lead but that was ridiculous. Needles to say I dumped it and took the loss. Not happy:(

Well, it's a good day. I learned something today. Never knew these existed. Thanx guys.

I have a 43-C that broke after about 2000 rounds. Sent it in for warranty and S-W likes it so well they won't send it back. FEDEX ticket says July 18/2013.What does lifetime warranty mean? Maybe that means it will be a lifetime before you get it back. Ha Ha It was a fun gun to carry for woods walking and carry around the farm.

pipeliner, have you talked to S&W about this? Sounds like a FedEx problem.
Steve

S.B. S-W called and said they would have to replace the gun. I guess that means when they build this model again.
The problem with the gun was the trigger pin broke in the frame. That is the reason they are replacing the gun. I would not have sent it in if it was something simple to fix.
I waited 1-2 years to get the gun, hope it doesn't take that long to repair. I had it ordered for so long, when the gun store called I couldn't remember which gun they were talking about.

IIRC those pins are mearly pressed into the frame? I know years back they regularly repaired this problem. Don't see why they would stop. but, they are S&W.

The pin was broken flush with the frame and couldn't be removed. Had a master pistolsmith look at it and he advised sending it back to SW.

This is off topic so I'll PM you after this. Did you ask if he could spot anneal it then drill it out?
