I k ow I've been blowing up the forum lately with questions and threads but A lot of great guns are getting traded in around here and some of the stuff is Greek to me.

Came across this 46 at my local and favorite gun shop. Comes with 5 mags no box or paperwork. 5.5 barrel (heavy?). In a solid 95%+ condition. What's the value on this? Are the grips original? Help me out yet again fellas and thanks!

That's a 46 with a "field " barrel not the heavy one. Grips could be original however lots of 46's came with plastic grips. I'd put the "I want it" value at about $675.00.
So what if I said I was getting it for $650?

You better run as fast as you can to get that before someone else beats you to it!!

I should have also said that this 46 could end up being quite a find.......More knowledgeable members will surely chime in.......

The top of the barrel.
A 5" 46 field barrel would be quite the find.

I don't have the knowledge/experience with 46's to tell from that pic. Hopefully Tom Beckwith or 4152 will chime in to give you the correct information.

Based on pictures and your description, $650 would be a "steal". The SN is in the range of when a 5" bbl. was available. These were used by the Air Force - look for an AF PG on the side of the frame near back end. Would probably not been a ramp front site?? A Jinks letter could confirm bbl. length as shipped. If it letters $750 - $950 range plus $120 for extra two mags.

What he said!!! Thanks Tom, I was hoping you would stop by.

if I had it in front of me with the chance to buy it at 650. I would. I think it's a great deal!

That is quite a bargain for sure. Most 46's go for around the $1000.00 mark here in Canada. Also they usually came with plastic grips as well but not all of course. Mine did. Mine also has the 7" barrel on it. I use it as a backup for my M41 in case it gets sick or needs a cleaning. I would jump all over that gun at that price ASAP.

I see a bunch on gun broker for that price with no bids..

The 46's are much more rare to find then the m41 as there was only around 4000 made I believe. To me they are just as good as the 41 and the mags are the same as well. The main difference is the weighting system on them in comparison to a 41. They shoot just as well and usually have the same sights also. They are a very fine pistol for sport shooting.
