I bought my 469 in about 1984 because I decided I just had to have a mid-size 9mm. I often forget I even have it, as I have acquired a number of other semi-autos; Glocks, Sigs, a Walther P22,various 1911's, the had-to-have Baretta suppressed mod. 92 and a few others. My 469 is "as new" since as I recall I put about 1 box through it when I got it and then put it back in the box, and always seem to want to shoot something else, so this poor baby languishes in my safe waiting to be shot. I think I have about 5 mags and a couple of holsters for it. As I recall from shooting it back when I got it, it is very reliable and pretty accurate.
Does anybody else have one of these, do you shoot it much, and how do you like it? The only other S&W semi-autos I've owned are an Escort, Model 41, Model 52 and a Sigma. they all served me well, but went down the road for various reasons. I guess I hang onto the 469 because I don't think there is probably much market for them and what the Heck, I bought it for good reasons of course those reasons are still valid. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has one.
Thanks, Beemerrider

I have a 469 and am very pleased with it. I have several Smith autoloaders. I like that I can switch my carry gun and still have the same controls and "feel". I had a couple of 6906s but never really fell in love with them. For some reason this 469 shoots better. Along with the 457 and 4566 it is a trusted member of my carry rotation.

I had one that was in terrible cosmetic condition. Had it duracoated in black and grey and it got tons of compliments. Like a fool I sold it to a gun store because unneeded cash.

Thanks for your responses. Birds Away and JimmyJ; you guys awakened my interest in my 469, Thank you. I'm in a cast on my left leg from an ankle fusion operation I had in January, so I can't get down to my range in our woods, but as soon as I'm able I will get down there and get reacquainted with this pistol. I am especially pleased about what you had to say about accuracy and and how well you like them.
Thanks very much for your thoughts,

Beemerider,

Add another 469 fan to the list. Like most smith autos the thing just works. Does not need a bunch of fancy work to be 100% reliable and reasonably accurate. I often shoot mine at IDPA matches. You can trust me, I also ride a Beemer.

Enjoy, fuzzy

Hi;
I have one & like it's weight & feel & balance. Has anyone tried the Versacarry genII gun clip for concealed carry. I use one with my 380. & have found it to be the best concealed carry I have used in my 38 years in law enforcement. It is the most comfortable. I'm going to get one for my 469, I'll let you know how that works out.
In case anyone wants to check it out the web site is:

Beemer - I picked mine up last year for $300 with 2 mags; it was filthy but cleaned up nicely. If I were inclined for a tank bag gun I'd put it on my R100RS...

For its size it is very accurate. Here is the equivalent of 1,000 words, fired from 10 yards, first trip to the range:

I bought a 469 with four mags on Thursday from a fellow retired officer. Went straight to the range and was pleased with how it cycled with everything I put through it. I'll spend more time with it in the near future to see how it well it shoots.

I would say that is very decent accuracy,
to say the least, from an 'outdated' semiauto that you aren't terribly familiar with.

One thing I CAN tell you: if you sell or trade it, you WILL regret it, sooner or later. They are NICE compact size semiautos.

I have the 3rd generation stainless steel model, the 6906, and it is far and away my favorite CC weapon.

Sometimes you read that people don't like the transition from DA to SA after the first round.

I like that, unlike many of the polymer striker fired 9mm's that seem to be so popular, you just don't see youtube videos of people shooting themselves with DA/SA semiautos.

And, S&W has far and away the best DA trigger of any semiauto that has a DA/SA trigger, or a DA only trigger, IMHO. The vastly more expensive Sigs and HK's have nothing on a S&W semiauto.

Just bought A 469 yesterday in 98% condition with two 12 round mags for 325.00 and love it. i havent got to the range yet but plan to soon with hopes to make it my new carry gun. will give a range report soon thanks Jeff

S&W 469 owner

I have a 469 that I carry for an off duty weapon. I have carried this for a duty weapon before my agency switched to Glocks (ugh!). This is one of the most accurate, compact and easy to conceal auto pistols I have ever owned. It still shoots to point of aim, fits my hand like glove and never jams, misfires or fails to fire. I faithfully trust that this gun will perform for me when I need it. The only addition I have made to it is a slip-on grip for improved handling in wet or cold environments. Doesn't need anything else.
