I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I recently came into possession of a SW Model 48 MFR (aka WMR) revolver. I'm pretty sure it's from the early 60's as it has a pinned barrel and it's a five screw model. The model number on the frame has no dash and the Serial number is K419XXX. I'm thinking maybe around 1961-62? Can anyone with knowledge here confirm this?

Thanks so much!

Standard Catalog shows 1960.

Production began in 1959, starting with K348746. Discontinued in 1986. Four screw models are worth 25% more, according to the authors.

Hope you enjoy shooting it.

Excellent! Thanks for the date on this, and yes its a four screw. I misspoke. It looks like it was hardly shot, but it did have a tiny bit of surface rust on the rear sight and on the cylinder. It appears I got to it just in time. My neighbor asked me to "get her dead husbands gun out of the house" and I was happy to help. This revolver was wrapped up in an old cloth on a shelf for who knows how long. But it's cleaning up pretty well.

Thanks for the information gentelmen!
