Model 48 ID Help Please

I inherited a Model 48 22 Mag. It's in really nice shape except for thee tiny rust spots. Left and right tip of barrel, approx 1/4", and under right grip.Looks new except for those areas. My father bought new around 1980 maybe? He only shot a couple times and then it went in his safe to this day.

I thought he had another cylinder for in in 22LR, but maybe I'm mistaken. I don't currently posess, but will look around estate some more.

Has a 2.5x Bushnell scope. Magnum Phantom. And some sort of special mount stamped "S&W". Not sure how it is mounted.

I shot it a dozen times at our indoor range. Stacked holes at 15 yards off a bag.

The pistol is of no use to me and I'm going to list it, but have no idea on value. Any estimates would be greatly appreciated. Also, any description help would be beneficial as well.

The only number on your gun that really matters is the serial number on the bottom of the grip frame. That 19KXXXX number means that your gun is from 1977. If you have the original rear sight and remove the scope and mount and install the sight you will increase the value of your gun. If you have the original box to go along with it that will also increase the value. Not sure why you would want to sell a gun that belonged to your father but based on just what is in your photos I would think $600 - $700 would be a good price range.

Weaklink, that's a really nice looking 48 and in my area it would bring around $700-800 with the 8 3/8" barrel IF..... it didn't have the scope on it. If I remember correctly, you had to drill and tap the frame for that Bushnell mount so that will hurt the collector value for a purist and you didn't say whether you had the rear sight or not. If not, that's gonna hurt the value also. Now for the good news. I notice the cyl turn line is very faint which is a good thing. Rear sights can be had without a problem and it would make one great shooter, which is what it deserves. I'm saying $650 range. If it was my dads gun, I would carry it to my grave, but that's just the sentimental old guy in me. Murf

No box, or sight.

No, I don't have the rear sight, or box. My father is still alive and he never really shot the gun. He had 20+ firearms that he bought in a short time, why I have no idea, because he was not a hunter or shooter. I think he bought them because he thought they were cool. No sentimental value for either of us. He did not want them any longer, gave them to me to downsize, so I am selling and using funds for other hobbies. I have a passion for 3D archery, PCP airguns, motorcycles, mountain biking, etc. Thanks for replies so far. Appreciate it.
