There is a model 48 for sale locally with both 22lr and 22mag cylinders and box for 650. My question is I have read that the mag cases get stuck after 3 or 4 firings and the LR is not very accurate. Is this typically true or just bad advice?

450- that is a pretty good price for a 2 cylinder gun. I have not had a problem with stuck cases in the 48's that I own. The barrel diameter is a little larger on .22wmr .224 vs .223 for .22lr. Many convertable guns shoot well with both types of ammo. If you decide to pass on the gun let me know the sellers info I might be interested. What is barrel length?.

Buy the gun. If it is in good shape, the worst that could happen is you could sell it and make money on the deal.

I bought a M-48 a couple years ago for $450. No box,No 22 LR cylinder, long bbl, exc shape. It shot so well I kept it. One must seat the 22 mags all the way down or they may back out a bit. I do this and have experienced no problems.

If it is in decent shape - Buy that 48...it is priced well under the market for one with BOTH cylinders.....and don't forget to post some photos when you get her home ;)

I have a 48 with the 8 3/8" barrel and an aux. cylinder. It shoots great and the times I have shot the aux. cylinder that shoots well too.

I have never had any trouble ejecting spent cases, but powder does build up under the extractor star, so that needs to be cleaned out on occasion.

That seems like a good price too.

I have a 4 inch 48 with dual cylinders. Both shoot very well. My solution to powder build up is to carry a small brush in my range bag. periodicly during a range session, I just clean under the ejector, and, no issues at all.
Great guns. Buy that one before someone else grabs it.

My 48 shoots a group just slightly larger than the group I shoot with my Ruger Mk III, when I shoot 22lr in the auxiliary cylinder.
