Hi I'm a new member. I am in need of a firing pin for a model 52-2. I know that the 52-1 is different. If you have one to sell or know where I might find one I would greatly appreciate it.

I don’t see why the 52-1 and the 52-2 would use different firing pins (different extractor yes, definitely) but the firing pins should be the same.

Numrich carries original and reproduction pins however both show out of stock at the moment.

Maybe if I have time tomorrow I could pull and compare them to a 5906 pin and see if that could be made to work.

I suspect there are Model 52 firing pins out on the market somewhere to be found. This is not a weak part that is prone to failure, I would say that a broken on is a rare event.

There is one showing on ebay listed as old style blued factory original. There is a pic of the firing pin shown against a ruler so you may be able to determine if it is the same one you need.

Thanks for the responses. I see the on on eBay but it states old style. I don't want to take my 52 apart if I don't have the part in hand. Numrich shows that the 52-2 part is not in stock. They don't have a listing for either a 52 or 52-1. Does anyone know if they are interchangeable?

Jack First has parts for 41's & 39/59 pistols. I don't know if a 39 FP will interchange. I wish I knew if the 52 FP would work in my 52-2.

I messaged the person on eBay who was selling a S&W 52 firing pin and spring. He has over 500 gun pieces parts listed so he must have been a repair shop. His 52 firing pin was for the non dash 52. He said that it would not work in my 52-2. I am pretty sure that it is 52- part only.

Reference your firing pin issue, you might want to remove the pin and spring just to verify your pin is actually broken/damaged. It's possible that the problem may actually be that the spring is broken or damaged...or that the firing pin cavity in the slide is heavily fouled.
Since a model 52-2 firing pin cannot be sourced, you may want to order an early firing pin from a model 39 series gun to check to see if would work correctly. The overall length and diameter of the pin would be critical.

On another note, keep in mind that with respect to the Smith and Wesson parts, the part numbers listed at Numrich (Gun Parts Corp) are not the manufacturer's designated numbers.

The S&W part number for the model 52-2 firing pin is 060190.

In my S&W parts list manual Jan 1 1994 it shows firingpin part number 6019 for a model 52-2

and part number 10365 for 39, 439 539 59 459 559 firing pins

I havent had a firing pin for a 52-2 for 30 plus years.
Good luck

Thanks for everyone's input and help. I have found out that the S&W first generation model 39 shares a lot of internal parts to my 52-2. Jack First Inc. has many of them. I just received their 1040-6019 old style firing pin which will work. Thanks to you all.
